Obituary

Barbara J. 'Bobbi' Abler Racine - Barbara J. 'Bobbi' Abler, 59, passed away at her home on Sunday, October 28, 2007. Bobbi was born in Milwaukee on March 5, 1948 to Harold Grossmeyer and Jean (nee, Etzel) Ditscheit. She married James Abler on October 24, 1970. Bobbi was employed by Wild Birds Unlimited. Bobbi was very involved in the Racine community; at one time receiving the Volunteer of the Year award for her work including coordinator of Fr. Bruce Clanton's Matthew 25 Youth Ministry, Alpha Crisis Pregnancy Center, St. Rita's R.E.S.T. program and also reading for the blind. She was also active in the Cursillo Movement Survivors include her husband, James Abler; children, Chad (Yolanda) Abler and Kasey Abler; grandchildren, Olivia and Matthew Abler; sisters and brothers, Linda (Glen) Mayer, Mike (Cathy) Ditscheit, Tina Deschler, Jim Ditscheit, Pam (Bill) Nicoud, Deanne (Bob) Reams and Kathi Russ and stepmother, Pat Grossmeyer. Bobbi is also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Harold Grossmeyer; mother and dad, Jean and Harlo Ditscheit; and brother-in-law, Dave Deschler. The Mass of Christian Burial for Bobbi will be held at St. Rita's Catholic Church, 4339 Douglas Avenue, on Friday, November 2, 2007 at 1 pm. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 12 noon until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Racine Habitat for Humanity.
