Azucena J. Maldonado RACINE – Azucena J. Maldonado, 86 passed away at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints on Tuesday, April 22, 2014. Azucena was born in Cotulla, TX on May 2, 1927 to Eugenio and Hortencia (nee, Ortiz) Jaimez. Azucena, who many also referred to as Chena, was a graduate of Cotulla High School. She married David Maldonado in 1964 and was a resident of Racine, WI since then. Chena was an extremely loving wife, mother and caregiver to anyone who came to her doorstep. Some of her favorite times were spent with family watching the Dallas Cowboys while making special meals for everyone to enjoy. She often opened her doors to anyone who needed support and she was considered a second mother to many.Survivors include her loving granddaughter, Luna Font, sister Juanita Naranjo of Dallas, TX, brother Eugenio Jaimez Jr. of Laredo, TX and numerous loving family members of the Jaimez, Maldonado, Garcia and Ortiz families and many close friends. Azucena was fortunate to spend her final days with her loving family. Azucena was preceded in death by her parents; husband David Maldonado, daughter Celia Font, and sisters Carolina Martinez and Hortencia Martinez. The Mass of Christian Burial for Azucena will be held at St. Richard of Chichester Catholic Church, 1509 Grand Avenue, on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. celebrated by Father Ron Gramza. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to her granddaughter Luna Font for her continuing education.
