Obituary

Racine- Augustus "Gus" G. McKinnie, 56, Passed into Eternal Life at Aurora Medical Hospital in Kenosha, WI, on Wednesday, November 17, 2010. He was born in the state of Massachusetts, on February 17, 1954 to the late Augustus (Mac) Mckinnie and Willie Mae (Honey) McKinnie. On September 22, 2001 he was united in marriage to the former Dionne (DeeDee) Thompkins at the Fellowship of Christian Believers Church. Gus graduated from Park High School and attended the University of Wisconsin Whitewater. Gus was a machinist and had been employed by JI Case, Twin Disc, Dan Foss, and In-Sink-erator. He was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church and Fellowship of Christian Believers Church. Gus enjoyed the simple things in life. He was a quiet man with a great sense of humor who relished in a good conversation with family and friends. Gus also enjoyed going to the gym and was actively involved in power lifting tournaments. He enjoyed spending time with his family bowling, throwing darts, shooting pool, going to the movies, watching football and other sports, and spending quality time with his wife. When he was younger he was actively involved in playing sports. He especially enjoyed playing football. Left to cherish his memories are his wife Dionne, sisters: Gayle (Demille) LaMar and Cheryl (Ralph) Price both of Milwaukee, WI, dearly loved children: Disa (Ali) Mckinnie-Richardson of Houstan, TX, Shavonte D. Thomas of Racine, Akari R. McKinnie of New Hope, MN, Damari R. McKinnie of Racine, WI, step son Jeremiah W. Thompkins of Racine, WI, grandson Omar Richardson, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, brother-n-laws, sister-n-law, other relatives and dear friends. Memorial Service will be held Saturday November 27, 2010,12:00 noon at the Fellowship of Christian Believers Church, 703 Washington Ave., Racine, WI with Pastor Bill Thompkins and Bishop Lawrence L. Kirby officiating. Time of fellowship will be held at 11:30 a.m. until the time of services.
