Obituary

RACINE- Arthur K. Stewart, 94, passed away at Ascension Healthcare-Spring Street Campus on Thursday, November 11, 2021. Art was born in Chicago, IL on February 6, 1927, to Arthur C. Stewart and Viola Swedman. He married Donna Mae Wakeley, and they were married for 47 years before she preceded him in death in 2008. He later married Rosemary Kaisel Kost. Before settling in Racine, Art spent most of his life in Chicago, and then Kansas City. He retired from the Chicago Park District at 55, with 38 years of service as the Director of Landscape. He was a longtime employee of the Kansas City Royals, serving in many different roles from Director of Scouting to Senior Advisor to the General Manager. Art spent 69 years in professional baseball. He began his career in 1952 in New York and spent 17 seasons with the Yankees. Art went on to join the Royals in 1969 and spent the next 52 seasons with the team. He was the longest-tenured member of the Royals organization. Throughout his career, Art received numerous awards. He was inducted in the Royals Hall of Fame, Professional Scouts Hall of Fame and the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame. Art also co-authored the book, "The Art Of Scouting" in 2014. Art will be dearly missed by his daughter and son-in-law Dawn (Brian) Stewart Mansfield and grandsons David and Mark, his wife Rosemary and her sons, Gerry, Greg (Vicki), Glen (Sue) and Guy (Katie) Kost. He is further survived by his beloved Royals family, his friends and colleagues.
