View Video Tribute Racine - Mr. Archie L. Wise, 75, died peacefully after a yearlong battle with pneumonia and respiratory failure on Wednesday, January 23, 2013. Archie was born in Guenther, WI on March 30, 1937 to the late Joseph and Clara (nee: Anker) Wise. On August 19, 1961 he married the former RoseMarie Grezenski.Archie skipped out of high school to serve his nation in the Air Force at the end of the Korean War. He worked at American Motors (AMC) and Chrysler for 30 years, retiring in 1988.He was a member of St. Rita Parish and the American Legion Post 310 of Racine, WI.Archie was a 15-year survivor of a heart and kidney transplant. He had the opportunity to share his life, stories, and many volunteer hours with the Kidney Foundation and the 'Got Your Dot' campaign for organ donation. He was a proud member of Team Wisconsin at the Transplant Games and was willing to share his time with all to help share the mission and importance of organ donation. Archie loved the outdoors and enjoyed many camping trips and vacations with his family and three grandchildren. He was an avid supporter of every team, sport, and activity his children and grandchildren participated in, and could be counted on to be there in person cheering loudly at their games and tournaments and offering encouragement at their concerts, no matter how far they were from home. He loved cruising, feeding his birds, working in the yard, traveling and camping in the RV, and taking many bus trips to the casinos. In addition to his loving wife, RoseMarie of Racine, his survivors include his children, Carl (Laura) Wise of Franklin, Cindy (Dave) Kontowicz of Midland, TX, Kurt (Berdell) Wise of Racine, Sheryl Wise of Racine; grandchildren, Alicia Kontowicz, Ian Wise, and Lindey Wise; sisters, Viola Cisewski of Mosinee, WI, Wilma Fink of Chetek, WI, Marie Iczkowski of Rosholt, WI, Alice (Ben) Obremski of Stevens Point, WI, Stella (Tom) Lewandowski of Mosinee, WI; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Herman (Angie) Bella of Stevens Point, WI; sisters-in-law, Margie Hintz of Tomahawk, WI, Judy Wise of Racine, Nancy Grezenski of Plover, WI; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. In addition to his parents, Archie was preceded in death by his fathers-in-law, Adam Grezenski and Stanley Firkus; mother-in-law, Florence (nee: Klestinski) Firkus; brothers, LeRoy Wise, Charles Wise; sisters, Sarah Hulsart, Leona McCartney; and brothers-in-law, Virgil McCartney, Rev. Robin Fink, Willard Iczkowski, Raymond Cisewski, Richard Hulsart, and Gary Grezenski.Archie's life and memorial mass will be celebrated in St. Rita of Cascia Catholic Church (4339 Douglas Ave., Racine, WI 53402) on Saturday February 9, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. There will be a time to meet with family at St. Rita from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. Internment with military honors will follow the mass in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
