Obituary

Anne Louise (Schaefer) Dunst, born on March 13, 1941, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, unexpectedly passed away at her home in Racine on November 28, 2025, at the age of 84. She was the fifth of six children to William and Idele Schaefer.

Anne graduated from Messmer High School in 1959. She met her husband, Donald, at a Milwaukee Braves game. Don and Anne married at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Wauwatosa on January 15, 1966.

They moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania shortly after marriage. Anne managed the home while Don pursued a career in banking. She hosted social events, sewed many of her clothes, and learned to golf and bowl. They traveled frequently for both business and pleasure. Anne enjoyed cooking, particularly trying new recipes. Don and Anne's family expanded with their children, Debra and Daniel. Anne dedicated her time to raising them faithfully. She volunteered at the St. Louise de Marillac nursery school for many years, even after Deb & Dan outgrew it. She and a small group of close friends organized an annual book fair to raise money for the St. Louise grade school.

The Dunsts moved to St. Clairsville, Ohio in 1995, when Don started working in Wheeling, West Virginia.  Anne made many new social and church connections and spent much of her time volunteering with the Red Cross. In 2013 Don & Anne returned to Wisconsin to live near their daughter and remaining extended family. Don passed earlier this year, just before their 59th anniversary.

Anne was a devoted spouse, loving mother, and nurturing grandmother. She embraced every opportunity to humbly support her family members and demonstrate her love. Anne impacted everyone she met. She will be greatly missed.

Anne is survived by her daughter, Debra (Scott) Deschler and grandchildren Michael and Mandy of Racine, WI; son Daniel (Maria) Dunst and grandchildren, Loretta, Cecilia, and Damien of Houston, TX; brother, Richard (Rita) Schaefer of Pewaukee, WI; sisters Joan Maguire of Cleveland, OH, Charlene Prospero of Wauwatosa, WI, and Jane Schaefer of Oberlin, OH. Anne was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Frances Carek, and brothers-in-law Donald Carek, Kevin Maguire and Caesar Prospero.

Funeral Mass for Anne will be held at St. Rita Parish, 4339 Douglas Avenue on December 19th at 10:30 a.m., visitation at the church from 9:00-10:30 a.m. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy. 32.
