RACINE – Allan B. Swiertz, 78, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints on Saturday, November 14, 2015. Al was born in Milwaukee on August 20, 1937 to Albert A. and Florence (nee, Dzieman) Swiertz. He married the former Karen Majeski, celebrating 51 years of marriage. Al served in the U.S. Air Force from 1957 until 1961 with the Strategic Air Command - 19th Bomb Wing. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt. In retirement he enjoyed photography and did photo refinishing as both a hobby and a small business. Survivors include his wife, Karen Swiertz; sons, Brian (Pam Honor) Swiertz, Todd Swiertz and Brad Swiertz; Papa to Jenna and Jason Swiertz, Nicolas Small and Amanda Pearson; honorary grandfather to Johanna and Zachary Honor happy great grandfather to Aislyn Schreiner and soon to be Maddox; and his brother, Richard (Carole) Swiertz. Al is also survived by other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Thomas Swiertz. A memorial gathering for Al will be held at the Funeral Home on Saturday, November 21, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, Al had requested donations in his name to the Wounded Warrior Project (http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org). The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and staff at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints, 2C, the Cardiovascular Unit, the Congestive Heart Failure Clinic and Doctors Nick Akgulian, Robert Gullberg, James Tierney and Pankaj Dhringa for all of their compassionate care.
