UNION GROVE – Alaina J. Whitney, 53, passed away at Zilber Family Hospice on Wednesday, July 6, 2016. Alaina was born in Racine on December 16, 1962 to Ronald and Lillian (nee, Primuth) Wendt. Alaina, one to follow her own path in life, had artistic talent and enjoying writing poetry, drawing and pottery. She was excellent in the kitchen; she kept traditional recipes alive and introduced many new creative ensembles to holiday dinners. She adored plants and flowers in every shape and form: in a garden, in a vase on her table, or growing in planters inside and outside her home. Every window served as a mini garden, lined with flowers and green plants all of which brought her incredible joy. During her college years she devoted many hours to community service. She was appointed legal guardianship over nine wards and was involved in decision making of a personal nature including arrangement for food, clothing, medical care and recreation. She loved helping people and she believed that one person could make a difference. Alaina is survived by her daughter, Adina (Raul Maruri-Martinez) Amin; her mother, Lillian Wendt; brother, Jeff (Nancy) Wendt; niece, Kelsey Wishau; and her uncle Robert Borgardt. Alaina is also survived by her step-sisters, Debbie Parkhurst and Diane DeKeyser; step-brother, Dennis Scholzen; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father. Funeral services for Alaina will be held at Franksville United Methodist Church, 10402 Northwestern Avenue, on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. John Fleming officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the church on Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:30 a.m. Memorials may be directed to Zilber Family Hospice.
